Presque Isle Township is a general law township. The elected officers, which make up the Board of Trustees, consist of the supervisor, clerk, treasurer, and two trustees. The supervisor, clerk, and treasurer are constitutional officers provided for in Article VII, Section 18, of the Michigan Constitution. The term of office for all township officals is four years. Terms commence at 12 p.m. on November 20th following the November general election, provided the newly elected officials have qualified for office by that time. Elected officials must qualify for office by January 1 or lose the elected position. The board is required to meet at least once every three months and additional times as necessary.
